Reika – Casual Izakaya and Yakitori

Have you ever wanted to try something new and delicious? You’ve never really tried yakitori before, have you?

Reika offers a unique experience in Saigon that draws on local resources for its food. Read on to learn more about this delicious and one-of-a-kind cuisine and the approach that Reika takes in sourcing ingredients from local farms and fisheries.

Yakitori is a delicious Japanese dish made of skewered and grilled chicken. The word ‘yakitori’ actually refers to the skewers that the chicken is cooked on, which are typically made of bamboo or steel.

The chicken is marinated in a sweet and savory sauce before being grilled over an open flame, giving it a unique flavor that is both juicy and slightly charred. Yakitori is typically enjoyed with beer or sake, and we have them here!

Besides chicken skewers (and we have more than just wings), we also offer beef short ribs, salmon tartar as well as vegetable options.

If you’ve never had yakitori before, then you’re in for a treat! Each skewer is simple yet flavorful, and it’s sure to become one of your new favorite meals. So don’t miss out!

In order to enjoy yakitori at Reika, there are a few things you should know in advance. First, it is best to go with a group of friends – the more, the merrier! Yakitori is meant to be enjoyed communally, and you will have a lot more fun if you can share it with others.

Second, be sure to arrive early or on time for your reservation. The kitchen at Reika prepares yakitori fresh to order, so it can take a little while for your food to come out. However, it is well worth the wait! Plus, we have a variety of side dishes for those conversational moments.

Finally, keep in mind that yakitori is traditionally served with beer. But we have carefully concocted cocktails, sake, umeshu (plum wine) and even gin and whisky, all of which pair well with our dishes.

So if you want to get the full experience, make sure to order a round or two for your table. Cheers!
